EPSILON 5 - Discover a new Horizon!

The new EPSILON 5 is placed right in the middle of the DHV 1-2 category and offers a very high level of passive safety. Thanks to the well known ADVANCE handling, the Epsilon 5 is a superb wing for long thermal flights. This wing will help inexperienced pilots realise their flying aspirations and take the first steps towards XC flying.

Behaviour

The EPSILON 5 is aimed primarily at occasional pilots with a preference for thermal flights and assists them in expanding their flying horizons. The balanced ADVANCE handling together with the wing's high intrinsic stability make lengthy thermal flights unadulterated pleasure. The excellent performance increases the appeal of the EPSILON 5 for pilots switching from a higher class. The enormous margin of passive safety means that the DHV 1-2 glider can also be flown by talented beginners.

Outstanding features of the new EPSILON 5:

  • excellent handling in thermal conditions
  • high passive safety
  • high intrinsic stability
  • flawless take-off characteristics
  • good performance even in accelerated flight

Improved big ears system

The EPSILON 5 now has separated A-risers to make the big ears manoeuvre easier. Thanks to the innovative Quick-Snap system, the risers are automatically separated only after take-off and joined together again on the ground, thereby facilitating ground handling.

Designed with body size in mind

The EPSILON 5 is fitted with risers of different length depending on the canopy size, so that even small pilots can reach them at all times. The size of the brake handles also varies according to canopy size.

Enhanced Speed & Performance Indicator (SPI)

A Speed & Performance Indicator (SPI) attached to the D-risers now displays the current position on the polar curve and helps the pilot select the best flying speed.

More efficient acceleration system

The pretension ratio of the A, B and C levels has been precisely tailored to the profile by exhaustive calculations. This brings about an improvement in performance as well as canopy stability in accelerated flight. The latter makes it possible to exploit the entire speed range with the EPSILON 5, even in turbulent air.

New line geometry

Thanks to a refined line geometry, it has been possible to reduce the intermediate line groups of the EPSILON 5 to two levels. The overall decrease in line length brings about a reduction in resistance and improves line control on the ground. During big ears, the new line geometry enables more extensive collapsing of the wingtips, with a significant improvement in the effectiveness of the manoeuver.
